Taken at Kruger National Park, South Africa
The Big 5, everyone wants to tick them off thier list when they first visit Africa, unfortunately many don’t believe when they see a Cape Buffalo that they’re anything more than a cow. Buffalo are in the Big 5 because they’re historically one of the most dangerous animals to hunt on foot. (It was a term coined before we’d rather take photographic shots rather than ones with bullets.) Extremely unpredictable, buffalo don’t usually give any warning before charging and can cause a lot of damage when they decide to – horns, weight and feet all being used as weapons.
On this particular occassion, I found a ‘placid’ pair of males feeding by the road – always keeping an eye on their observers.
