Taken at Daktari Bush School and Wildlife Orphanage, South Africa
Helemeted Guniea Fowl are a common sight when on safari in South Africa… but it’s not the easiest to get a still photo of one because they’re almost always, without question, running in front of the game viewers in their own vision of a race. (Who has won though, we’ll never know.) Whilst visiting Daktari however, two previously raised (and since released) Guinea Fowl returned for a visit and I got my opportunity to see them close up.
Daktari is a registered non-profit company located in the Limpopo Province of South Africa near the Kruger National Park. Their mission is to educate and inspire underprivileged children to care for their environment through the medium of a wildlife orphanage (and yes, they do take volunteers!)
