Taking a completely different perspective, away from the big game of Africa we stumble across this lovely Meerkat! Admittedly taken in a wildlife sanctuary in South Africa rather than the wild, we still managed to get this great shot of him looking straight into the lens!Meerkats actually belong to the mongoose family and are plentiful in parts of the Kalahari in Botswana, the Namib Desert in Namibia, Angola and South Africa. They often live n big families between 20 to 50 and are some of the most entertaining small animals to watch! You would be lucky to see some, despite their abundance, in the wild.
